Then Sunday we (FC, JB and Scouser73) were off to Hilbre Island for one of the pre NW Mega 2012 caching events …

Overall a very very enjoyable weekend…

Been a while since my last film review so here’s a short round up:
The Avengers Assemble (great seen it twice so far, love iron man and hulk)
The Dictator (not as funny as it looks)
The Raid: Redemption (subtitled, lots of kick ass fight scenes)
American Reunion (tried, but doesn’t live up to the first 2)

Firstly Jimbags birthday was cause enough to try the mega challenge.
A 1kg burger and fries, even splitting it down the middle with killercache I still couldn’t clear the plate so no photo or tshirt for me and at £8.99 that was a bargain.

Today we’re n Blackpool with the better halfs family for a 60th birthday celebration staying at the Hilton with a sea view.

Of cause it would be rude not to do a spot of caching on the way. Dropped off 4 travel bugs and picked up a few caches in Stanley park just as the sun decided to come out. Lucky us.

More regular updates soon and a USA review too hopefully. I’d get more blogging done if I wasn’t always paying with my new iPad app drawsome.

– we hired a car and hit the road up the E.T. Highway to Rachel the home of the Little Al’e Inn.


Had a spot of lunch and then grabbed a few caches too.
Then we headed back via the infamous black mail box and the bombing range road. Here we had a show of bravado from the men in black as they skidded to a 90 degree halt just up the road from us then returned to their lookout on the ridge. We continued on to the famous restricted area signs then fled.

our favourite cache was the 0001 at the start of the E.T. Highway trail. But am sure we were being muggled by someone or something from out of this world.

For me that was the highlight of the Vegas trip. Vegas and the casinos were ok and the grand canyon was breath taking so will have to post additional pictures when back home. Next stop Florida

I am tired after a hectic 48hrs, we arrived on Friday afternoon Local time, had a crazy driver drive us from JFK to the hotel, a quick checkin then off out to checkout time square and book a 48hr tour starting with the night tour of the city.

Saturday we took in down town seeing the flatiron building, ground zero memorial, pier A and a view of the green lady, then as the sun and blue sky appeared we went up the rock ( rockerfella building ) amazing views. Sat night spent back at time square and a few shops.

Sunday was the turn for the up town tour loop and a good stroll through lower central park for a spot of geocaching before a last minute gift shop and then off to JFK for the next leg of our trip in Vegas.

Nik up Oakanut

Oakanut, infamous round these ‘ere parts, it’s a big scarey tree, Nik thought he’d give it a go, he got close very close, but no cigar or signed log.

Further round the trail I spotted these barrels and thought “ooh giant geocaches”, but sadly not – they are some kind of bird feeders…

We also met a nice horse rider with a horse called Yoda which tweaked my SciFi senses…
Sadly not much else to report this week, with no cinema visit

TTFN

…half the time I’ve been sat in a darkened room wearing 3D glasses
& the other 1/2 the time I’ve been sat in a darkened room not wearing 3D glasses…

Chronicle: 3/5 stars, it was OK, a great idea but thought the way they chose to tell the story via the kids video camera all Cloverfield style was fine, but it has been done before, Blair witch is another one, but then they start flicking the footage from his camera to other handheld cameras, to police car/copter footage, to mobile phone footage, to security cameras and ATM machine footage, and at one point I’m sure it all got too confusing and they just ignored the rules for a few seconds during the climatic fight scenes at the end of the film.  so what was the point, forget the over the top clever self filmed style and just film it normally, it doesn’t draw you in any more or make you care for characters any more than you normally would, it just makes to think “why the hell are they doing this we know he is not really filming himself, I’m going to watch this like a hawk and spot any mistakes – directors are idiots arn’t they” and for me that kind of detracted from the film some what hence this little review just turned in to a bit of a rant – oops better make that 2/5 stars.

Now for the 3D; Ghost Rider 2: 3 stars, it was in 3D – can’t really think of anything else to say about it….

…oh yeah Nick Cage is in it too and his head sets on fire… DONE.

What have I been watching:

Cinema: Man on a Ledge, not sure why we chose to watch this over Chronical, this film has enough movie myths to fill two episodes of mythbusters, the twists were very predicable, and they throw in a soppy ending about 2 characters that you dont really care about, although Genesis Rodriguez is pretty hot.

UK TV: Spartacus, is back and just as good as ever, loving the show

Last weekend:

Saturday: Killercache and I drove up to Blackpool for the day to watch the 2nd day of the Snooker shoot out, Live on Sky2 – loads of photos below some from the event and some from the recorded TV show – taken from the paused show using the iphone so sorry about the quality. As we got front row seats we were on camera a lot.

Sunday: went out with Jimbag , Scouser73, Killercache and Callum for a nice circular walk around a golf course, Scouser73 loved the golf ball cache, and I hand fed some geese.

This Weekend: snowed on Saturday so made a snow cat on the garden table, Sunday Scouser73 the 2 nephews and I headed out to a park in Bolton for a couple of caches and picked up a nice/multi puzzle on route, and also petted some friendly donkeys.

 What have I been watching this week:

Right I have got to have a little rant about this but I watched that “The Grey” with Liam Neeson this week and it was all going quite well until they decided not to put a smegging ending on the film, I know they are trying to be “arty” and clever, but its like reading a book to find the last 5 pages have been torn out – 1 out of 5 stars for making me mad.
